    Leave of Absence (LOA) is extended time without required employment responsibilities due to a qualifying event where the employee’s job is protected while they are absent. Some qualifying events include serious illness, 孩子的出生, 手术恢复, and the need to care for an immediate family member who is seriously ill. There are several different leaves an employee may be eligible for, including but not limited to家庭医疗休假法(FMLA), Washington Paid Family Medical Leave (WA PFML), 俄勒冈家庭休假法案(OFLA), 带薪休假, Pregnancy Disability Leave (PDL), and Maternity/Paternity leave. 有关更多信息,请参阅 WWU贷款政策.     Under Title I of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), a reasonable accommodation is a modification or adjustment to a job, 工作环境, or the way things are usually done during the hiring process.     The intent of governing laws relating to employees with functional limitations is that the employer and employee work together in an interactive process to determine whether and what kind of accommodation is needed to enable the employee to perform the essential functions of the position.
